Journal of John Woolman

$ 14.95

John Woolman was a 17th century American Quaker. In his journal, he tells the story of his moral, spiritual, and intellectual development, his actions as an adult, and his travels in the ministry among Quakers. In particular, it depicts his deep concern for equality and justice. He was an advocate of abolition and traveled throughout Quaker communities in the U.S. to bring his concern to Quakers. As a result, many freed their slaves. He also visited native American communities a number of times, and advocated for the poor. Throughout, he recounts how his work on behalf of others was prompted by leadings of the Spirit.

Woolman’s influence extended beyond Quakers. His letters and journeys have impacted many people; his Journal has been continuously published since 1774, and is considered a classic American book.
