Dear Benjamin Banneker

Though the fact that Banneker regularly attended meeting for worship is not mentioned, this is a very good short biography of this remarkable free black man: an accomplished astronomer and mathematician and the first African American man to publish an almanac. He also wrote Thomas Jefferson an incredibly eloquent letter (which is excerpted here) speaking against slavery.
