Just War?

A valuable historical documentation of society's response to the Iraq War as well as a careful critique of the church's understanding of just war theory in contemporary international politics. Charles Reed explores the two Iraq Wars (1990, 2003) in light of just war theory. He concludes that by altering the theory to fit their own perspectives, church leaders consistently missed the opportunity to engage in significant public debate. At the same time, Reed highlights those leaders who balanced their teachings with the changing international landscape.
