Friends and Comrades: How Quakers Helped Russians to Survive Famine and Epidemic
Sergei Nikitin retired from his position of the Head of Amnesty International Russia in 2017 and moved with his family from Moscow to New Mills. Five years in the peaceful and quiet town gave him an opportunity to finalise his research on his Quakers’ relief work in Russia. His book Friends and Comrades was published in Russian in Moscow in 2020. Now it has been published by Quacks Books - in English. The book is a story never told before in Russia or in the West. As the British historian Robert Service said: “Sergei has written an exemplary account, vivid and well researched, of the Quaker relief mission to Russia.
