William and Sarh Biddle
Tells of the progenitors of the Philadelphia Biddle family, who settled in West Jersey. The book describes the religious and economic persecution experienced in England followed by their emigration. It is full of day-to-day descriptions of Quaker life. Family members were actively involved in establishing a new government that had many of the elements important in future democracies, including a fair judicial system and a better system of land tenure.
