Rachel Wilson and Her Quaker Mission in 18th Century America
In 1768-69, Rachel Wilson, from a Quaker family in Kenal in the north of England, left her husband and children at home and made a voyage to America. She was the only woman on board. Once there, she visited Quakers throughout the colonies, covering some 4,500 miles on horseback and keeping a journal of her mission in three small notebooks. This book tells the story of this remarkable woman and her journey, drawing extensively on her journal and a range of other sources.
